Computer scientists and robotics researchers are increasing the possibilities for computer-animated characters by enabling motion-capture technology to move from film studios to outdoor environments.

  1. Motion Capture Technology - A process in which an individual’s body movements can be recorded by cameras. Typically, motion sensors are placed on the body.  The data from the sensors can then be used to create animated 3D models that perform the same movements
  2. 3D Model - A process for creating a mathematical representation of any object in the three dimensions of space: length, width and height.
  3. High-Definition Video - Video that contains a greater number of picture elements, or pixels, than standard-definition video. High-definition video can be clearer, crisper and more detailed than standard-definition video.
