  1. Troposphere - The lowest layer of the Earth's atmosphere from the surface to about 11 miles where weather occurs. From the Greek word tropos meaning to turn or mix.  
  2. Stratosphere - The second layer of the Earth's atmosphere between 6-30 miles above the Earth's surface and above the turbulence where commercial aircraft fly.  
  3. Snow - Water that has frozen in a pattern forming flakes.
