Of all the tours taking place this afternoon during the ScienceOnline 2012 #scio12 conference, one in particular is likely to make quite an impression on some of its participants. More accurately, a very permanent mark indeed. In case you haven't figured it out, we're talking about tattoos here.

The Science of Ink Tour: Dogstar Tattoo Company w Carl Zimmer offers tour-goers the chance to really leave their scientific mark -- even if it's only skin deep.

Zimmer's book, Science Ink, is a sort of coffee table picture book that features scientists and researchers who, quite literally, wear on their sleeves interpretations of their scientific research.

Since I only learned details about this no-doubt memorable tour a few moments ago, I plan to follow up tomorrow with photos featuring the new additions from participants willing to share their fresh ink.
