Hello, everyone! I'm in Boston through Wednesday to cover the March Meeting of the American Physical Society, the largest annual gathering of physicists every year. It begins a bit earlier than usual this year, which explains the February dateline on the post, and it ends on Friday, March 2.

It's taking place at the cavernous Boston Convention Center, with an estimated 9,000 papers to be presented at the meeting. Walking to the convention center at 7:30 AM on a brisk 29 degree F morning, I shot the photo that you see here. I'm about to plunge into a day of presentations, press conferences and posters, on topics ranging from the physics of cancer, new insights into social networks and human aging, better materials for de-icing aircraft, and the impact of nanoparticles -- natural and artificial -- on the environment.

If you'd like to see a preview of some of the wondrous topics here, check out the APS list of highlighted sessions.

More later.  Stay tuned!
